GIFGlobe v2

GIFGlobe v2

The day has finally arrived – GIFGlobe v2 is ready!

GIFGlobe began life as a quick side project back in 2016 – searchable GIFs for The Office (UK) and Alan Partridge. Then Gizmodo UK (RIP) covered it, and things snowballed from there. The sites now see significant traffic from all around the world.

Since launch, more shows have been added, but the site itself has seen very little in the way of new development. That changes today.

What’s new in GIFGlobe v2

Site-wide search
Search across every show at once, or filter down to a single show. (You can still search within a show’s own subdomain too.)

Faster image generation
Text updates and custom still images now generate much faster, and there are far more still frames to choose from per scene.

Custom GIFs
Create your own GIFs, with full control over length and text.

Meme strips
Select different scenes from across the site and build your own stacked meme strips.

WebP for faster loading
The site now serves WebP files by default. WebP files are smaller and higher quality than GIFs, so pages will load noticeably faster, especially on 4G/5G

Scenes without speech
Silent scenes are now included, so those wordless reaction shots are finally available.

Edit suggestions
You can now submit edits – flag glitches in the text or incorrect scene lengths, and add descriptions to speech-free scenes so they’re easier for others to find in search.

Fuzzy search
Not quite sure on the wording on the quote? Fuzzy search should help you out by finding similar scenes to your search query.

More content
During the build, I’ve also added some more content to the site too.

Thank you

Thanks for all the support over the years, and a special thanks to everyone who provided feedback and helped shape GIFGlobe v2. Enjoy!
